theme= anything goes

2 sponsors: Delicious Doodles and Star Stampz; I was part of the design team asked to work with some selected images from Star Stampz. As soon as I saw "Rain", I knew I wanted to create something with it.

More views of card and supplies pictured before I started:

close up

inside panel view using a clip art image, strip of gray patterned cardstock, and a scrapbooking sticker

initially I wanted to use the sticker "Never Give Up" but after working on building the card cover I thought 'silver lining' would be better

markers in a range of blues and greens to use on rain hat, coat, boots, umbrella, puddle, frog, and cattails

skin lightly colored with a brown colored pencil; hair is a combination of orange and 2 yellows

Isn't she still gorgeous in all her despair?!!!?!

Visit PPCCB to get all the details of challenge #365, prizes offered by the 2 sponsors, and see what other images were used by the design team crew.

Some design details for this card cover:
a. there are 7 designer patterned papers (The Paper Studio) used, 2 solid colored cardstock, and a bright blue paper (Grafix) for background on the white cardstock base (Georgia-Pacific)
b. each row has a strip 1" deep x 3" wide which are zig-zagged and off-set by smaller repeat pieces
c. image is mounted on a light mint green cardstock and fussy-cut to about 1/8" around the perimeter of the image
d. the image has small foam stickies behind it that help it stand out away from the surface and allow for the mesh gems strip to accent

LOVE how this came together. LOOK for those silver linings of blessings hidden within the despair of rainy days or series of traumatic events.

Congrats cards for 2

HIMCR #337 any holiday

Two for the price/layout of one! A 2-fer set of inspiration cards for the 'any holiday' theme challenge #337 for Hiding In My Craft Room:

Valentine love

#1:

#2:

Thanks to a coordinated paper pack Mint Berry from The Paper Studio by Hobby Lobby, these Valentine's Day cards were easy to put together.

The corner triangles are 2" squares cut diagonally.

A few different embellishments to distinguish these apart were also easy to add.

Inside panel:

These cards were created as a design team member for HIMCR. Use the blog link below to go to the site and get all the guidelines, deadline details, sponsor, and prize information.

Husband's anniversary card #22

Dear love

#22

How do I love thee? Through sickness and health; Through good times and bad; Through joy and sorrow; ....

Angled and side views:

Inside panel:

A few details:
a. the deer image and gold ribbon are reused and upcycled here from a Christmas gift bag
b. the deer image on inside panel is a foam tab stick-on embellishment from a Christmas theme gift tag set that I've used for card embellishing this winter
c. my choice of designer patterned papers were inspired by the blanket image with the sentiment message of warm and cozy wishes (thanks to The Paper Studio by Hobby Lobby for all 3 papers)
d. some gold and red glitter heart foam stickers along with "love" ones to complete my "Dear Love" anniversary theme for my sweetheart

I'll be on a crafting break for most of the upcoming week due to moving back into our repaired home and getting items from rental and those that were put into storage after cleaning from August 13th fire merged together. Meanwhile from the crazy yo-yo weather in the Midwest, Becca

PPCCB 364 Anything Goes theme

Cheesy Mice

New design team (DT) inspiration card can be found in the above photo and again on the PPCCB blog post. I was grouped to use one of the digital images provided by Just Me Digital Stamps and then half of the DT used provided images from Digistamp 4 Joy Shop. The theme of #364 is 'anything goes'. If you want to participate, you don't have to use product from either of the sponsors but it is nice if you can visit their websites. Also check the blog link to read the guidelines plus details and see what the other members of the design team crafted for your inspiration.

More views of my Cheesy Mice valentine's card cover panel:

The doodled border around the "cheesy mice" was added by me as a way to frame the image and message. My "cheesy" elements were having 3 different hearts along the bottom right corner of a swirl print heart sticker, a glitter foam heart sticker, and a heart patterned cardstock scrap.

The above photo shows what I had picked from my craft stock a couple of days ago but I used different stickers and didn't use the designer patterned papers. "Oh, the plans of mice and men."

The inside panel has a strip cut from word processed sentiments printed on white cardstock, a pink paper heart that was cut from the inside of the doily (Dollar Tree) used on the cover panel, a strip of teal green gems on mesh (Dollar Tree), and another glitter foam heart sticker (Dollar Tree) with pink cardstock scrap (Colorbok bought at Wal-Mart).

I'm going to try to work ahead for the next week or two of challenges because the big days are almost here to move back into our re-built house after a fire that destroyed 40-43% of the structure back in August 2017. So stay tuned. Becca

Winter Fest 2018 congrats card for niece

This is a personalized card for congratulating one of my nieces for being nominated by her classmates to represent them for the winter homecoming (Winter Fest) court:

Winter Fest

The Student Council sponsors and picks the theme but this card's theme is my choice in thinking about winter + festive = snowflakes, plaid, windy swirls, and hearts.

The 2 designer papers from The Paper Studio by Hobby Lobby are perfect for this creation.

Dimensions: top-folded card = 5.25" x 8.25"; it just fit into an A9 envelope

Close-ups:

Inside panel:

I thought the crown image was the perfect little accent to give a 'nod' to the queen's court aspect to homecoming since the papers and embellishments support the "winter" aspects of Winter Fest, winter homecoming celebration at my old alma mater high school. I'm excited for my niece and this honor she's received from her peers.

Still crafting in the U.S.A. Midwest, Becca; stay tuned for more posting throughout the week

HIMCR #336 third Saturday surprise challenge to color it

Color 'it' = a digital image you color OR a stamped image you color OR sketch your own image and color

I did 2 card versions of the digital image I selected from the challenge sponsor, Fred She Said Designs. The image is called "Old Tractor":

Top photo is version 1. I really like how I added the corn stalk leaves border above and below the digital image (and of course how I colored it) but I'm not as happy with all the paper triangles surrounding it. This was already a large 5.5" x 8" card but this layout might have been suited better for a 12" x 12" scrapbook layout instead. That's my opinion. [pine tree and barn were also added by me...I thought the tractor looked too lonely]

Bottom photo is version 2. I like this version more than the first because there aren't as many triangles or patterns fighting for attention. The round border (also added by me) simplifies and keeps focus on the "Old Tractor". I put a tag on the back about "you are OUT standing in your field; Happy Valentine's Day."

HIMCR is Hiding In My Craft Room, a challenge blog with a theme for each week of the month starting on Saturdays.

Go to the blog and this particular post to get all the details and how to participate as a crafter in todays challenge #336. You have about 6 days left to create, make a blog post, and then link it to this challenge for a chance to win the sponsored prize from FSSD. Third Saturday is a surprise challenge that Laurie (blog owner) decides what the surprise will be. This month is to "color" an image.

Here's a photo showing some of my supplies to getting started for version 1 with the image already colored and embellished with the border, pine tree, and barn by me:

Still crafting in the U.S. heartland, Becca
P.S. visit the HIMCR and check out the rest of the design team inspiration creations
There is one of crafter using "Old Tractor" and then the rest of the crew used 2 other images.

Thinking of you card with paint focal #2

Paints and mists January 2018 challenge

for 100 Pattern Papers (a closed group on Facebook)

"Bless you":

This is my 2nd card with misting or squirting combos of paint onto white cardstock that I then experimented with cotton balls to either pounce, smear, or swirl the paints.

The front panel focal and inside panel focal were both traced and cut from the painted cardstock on the far left.

Dimensions: folded at top; 4.5" x 5.5"
Base: white cardstock (Georgia-Pacific)
Background base: dark indigo denim pattern paper
Next background base: designer paper (The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby); it reminds me of a geode, something mineral
Scrapbooking sticker tab and heart (terracotta color)
Inside focal background: brown cardstock (Colorbok)
Word search puzzle "arrow" is used because it has the letters of "bless you" backwards
Stencil: Folk Art Decorative Icons stencil set (Plaid)
Cording/twine: 3 different ones wrapped (navy blue and white & faded blue and white & tan and brown)

Once I decided on which painted cardstock I wanted to use plus the stencil pattern, then 'shopping' in my stash for everything else was pretty easy.

Some close-ups of the paint:

Glad I took up the challenge to challenge myself in trying a technique that I haven't used in my paper-crafting. I've done inking but not painting.

Let me know if my efforts are worth it--
Becca
